Thomas Crane Library

Quincy Massachusetts has a rich history rooted in America's inception as a nation. Quincy's granite quarries literally built much of early America's foundations. The Thomas Crane Public Library pays tribute to the city of Quincy and its important role in America's foundation.

We had the full team with us as this historic building is huge! In an interesting turn of events, the original building for this library was the brainchild of architect HH Richardson. He also designed Union Station and the Tunnel Bar in Northampton, which we had investigated just a few weeks prior. After this award-winning library was built from Quincy granite in 1881, as the city grew so too did the library. 1908, 1939, and 2001 saw additions lovingly added to this historic beauty. We were grateful we had all hands on deck for this one.

We had some interesting occurrences here including a motion detecting music box acting strangely. We're still trying to debunk this, but every time one of us triggered the motion sensor, it would act as expected. But then a few seconds later, it would trigger again without anyone in the vicinity, almost as if it was detecting something following us around. Maybe to ask us to be quiet in the library? This music box has not repeated this behavior on any other investigations.

We had a special moment in the children's section when we read aloud in the hopes of giving a treat and comfort to any children wanting to hear a story. Jillian feels like she connected to the spirit of a departed loved one while there. We're still reviewing our footage but we really enjoyed this historic building. Libraries are great resources for history and communities. Who wouldn't want to hang out in a library for their afterlife?
